New York really gets us. This menu says it all, as does the fact that you can get fresh juice on pretty much any block in the city at the little convenience store things. I’m seriously already ready to book my next trip but until then, here are my favorite places/top suggestions for where to get coffee, food, and fitness if you’re going to NYC and Brooklyn. LMK if you’d rather have me take you to them in person. 😉
Devoción – This coffee shop has two locations – one in Botoga, Columbia and this one in Brooklyn. The beans are all flown in and never more than 10 days old. Get the pour over (worth it) and hang out in this super cute coffee shop. Read their story here.
Two Hands – All the yes. Acai bowl made with almond milk and cacao powder, topped with gluten free granola, hemp seeds, chia seeds, coconut, cacao nibs, blueberries, and raspberries. I mean…..I hope that says it all. It’s also in one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC.
Sweatshop – Australian, awesome, amazing. Acai bowls, avocado toast, coffee, and a “creative space.” Ok yep I’m also in love with this place.
Hu Kitchen – One of my all time favorite places. If I could eat every meal here I would. Paleo errrrrything. They have a “mash bar” with cashew cream and tarro root pudding as bases for goji berries, paleo granola, etc. They have the most bomb breakfast wraps made from arrowroot and tapioca flour and filled with egg whites, sweet potato hash, and seasonal veggies. Where do I even begin with the paleo desserts xoxox. This place is big (two floors with the 2nd floor just seating), casual (order and pay at the counter), and ah-mazing. Get all the desserts. All of them.
Mast Brothers – Go for the “chocolate beer.” It’s a cold pressed cacao bean drink served on a nitro tap. My love for cold brew coffee on nitro is strong and this might be even stronger. I’ve never had anything like it. It doesn’t have coffee (or booze) in it, fyi, but so worth trying. Right around the corner from Blue Bottle and not far from Toby’s Estate (which is super cute).
Shaddowbox – 45 minute boxing class in a boutique gym (coffee/juice bar up front). Feels like Soul Cycle with boxing instead of spinning. A serious workout (sweat was dripping in my eyes and it was awesome) with nice showers if you don’t want to go back to your hotel after class. Apparently T Swift works out here …. so ….. yeah. $34 a class so definitely not inexpensive, but I think worth it.
Indie Fresh inside Gotham West Market – Get the blueberry cayenne smoothie. And everything else on the menu (smoothie menu pictured below). You will love this place and love Gotham West Market in general. If a smoothie isn’t your jam, there are other places within the market that have bomb tacos, beer, coffee, etc. Great place to charge your phone if you need to do that, too. 😉
Juice Press – Get the lemon // ginger // cayenne shot.
Greecologies – Authentic greek yogurt from grassfed cows with super delish toppings. Bulletproof coffee (though not called that) is also on the menu here, and they have a really cute and kind of secret back patio that’s worth checking out.
Wythe Hotel – Rosé on the roof. That is all 😉 xoxoxoxo.
Till next time, NY!! <3
